Los encajes bancarios son la porci\u00f3n de los dep\u00f3sitos que los bancos est\u00e1n obligados a mantener inmovilizada en el Banco Central. Funcionan como una herramienta de pol\u00edtica monetaria y de regulaci\u00f3n financiera, ya que contribuyen a asegurar la liquidez del sistema y a influir en la cantidad de cr\u00e9dito que las entidades pueden otorgar. La resoluci\u00f3n establece una reducci\u00f3n gradual de las al\u00edcuotas aplicables a las obligaciones a corto plazo (menores a 30 d\u00edas), tanto en pesos como en unidades indexadas. Este cronograma de reducci\u00f3n se ajustar\u00e1 de forma escalonada con un 14% a partir del 1\u00b0 de julio, un 13% a partir del 1\u00b0 de agosto y una convergencia final al 12% a partir del 1\u00b0 de setiembre de 2026. A partir del 1\u00b0 de setiembre de 2026, el BCU mantendr\u00e1 los niveles de encaje vigentes, pero modificar\u00e1 la forma en que remunera los saldos excedentes en moneda extranjera.
