El embarque fue realizado por la empresa CIUPSA y marca el inicio efectivo del uso de las preferencias arancelarias contempladas en el tratado comercial que comenz\u00f3 a aplicarse de forma provisoria el 1 de mayo. La operaci\u00f3n fue destacada por la C\u00e1mara de Industrias Pesqueras del Uruguay (CIPU), que considera este env\u00edo un punto de inflexi\u00f3n para un sector golpeado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os por conflictos sindicales, aumento de costos y dificultades operativas. El cargamento sali\u00f3 desde Uruguay a bordo del buque Xiamen Express, de la naviera Hapag-Lloyd, y consiste en merluza tipo HGT, es decir, procesada sin cabeza, v\u00edsceras ni cola. Desde la gremial empresarial se\u00f1alaron que este formato supone un mayor nivel de industrializaci\u00f3n y valor agregado, ya que requiere m\u00e1s mano de obra nacional y permite un mejor aprovechamiento de la materia prima.
