El ahorro estimado es en relaci\u00f3n a si se hubiera utilizado gasoil, como se hizo hasta diciembre del a\u00f1o pasado, cuando comenz\u00f3 a funcionar el Gasoducto Cruz del Sur. Ante la posibilidad de que la nueva modalidad de contrato sea permanente, Bentancor dijo que si bien \u00abhay un estudio m\u00e1s grande que tienen que hacer los t\u00e9cnicos de la empresa\u00bb, evalu\u00f3 la conveniencia de que UTE tenga siempre gas a su disposici\u00f3n para cuando tenga que exportar. <strong>Gasoducto Cruz del Sur es una empresa uruguaya integrada por compa\u00f1\u00edas nacionales e internacionales (Shell en un 40%, Pan American Energy 30%, Ancap 20% y Wintershall Dea 10%) dedicadas a la exploraci\u00f3n, producci\u00f3n y distribuci\u00f3n de gas natural.<\/strong> El gasoducto se extiende desde Punta Lara en Argentina hasta Montevideo y sus alrededores en Uruguay, pasando por los departamentos de Colonia, San Jos\u00e9, Canelones y Montevideo. El gas natural es un energ\u00e9tico m\u00e1s econ\u00f3mico que los habituales. La presidenta de UTE, Andrea Cabrera, hab\u00eda explicado que la infraestructura que la estatal tiene en Punta del Tigre (San Jos\u00e9), funciona habitualmente a gasoil por el costo de m\u00e1s de US$ 200 por megavatio y que la diferencia de precio con el gas natural ser\u00eda de US$ 86 por megavatio. Sobre este punto, Bentancor afirm\u00f3 que la estatal trabaja actualmente en poder \u00abgarantizar la continuidad\u00bb del suministro de gas natural. Por otro lado, el vicepresidente de la empresa p\u00fablica destac\u00f3 la expansi\u00f3n de energ\u00eda solar para el pr\u00f3ximo quinquenio, donde se prev\u00e9 alcanzar 500 megavatios (MW) con una inversi\u00f3n total para los proyectos de este a\u00f1o de US$ 280 millones. Con este objetivo, UTE tiene previsto construir un nuevo parque fotovoltaico de 75 MW ubicado en Melo (Cerro Largo) a cargo de la empresa uruguaya Teyma y la espa\u00f1ola Prodiel Energy. Ayer se firm\u00f3 el contrato para la construcci\u00f3n del nuevo parque que implicar\u00e1 una inversi\u00f3n superior a los US$ 40 millones.
